The classifieds are full of listings for job seekers desiring to work from home. But, how do you know if they are real, whether or not they pay, and if they are legitimate? These are usually the more difficult questions, so this article includes some work from home tips to get you on your way to real opportunities you can trust. We have done the work so you don’t have to. If you’ve already done your homework, then you can scroll to the bottom!
This is the 2013 5th edition of a great ebook that not only offers valuable information about the world of freelance writing, but also useful instructions on how to submit your work for pay! It’s easy to read, highly rated, and fairly priced. Give it a try…
Tip #1 You don’t have to pay to be an employee!
There is one very good way that you can weed out the work at home scams. Don’t pay to work. Online employers are usually not much different from offline employers. There is an application, one or more interviews, paid training, etc.
An exception to this is that many independent contractor or business opportunities require you to pay for a background check and/or valuable training you may need. These are opportunities where you are not an employee, and it is a good idea to do your research before investing. Here is my affiliate link to one of these opportunities: Affilo Blueprint. I have taken their affiliate marketing course and it is very good.
Tip #2 Join a community!
There are many communities, forums, and blogs online where workers are looking to connect with like-minded people. Join or follow one, and learn from their experiences. Most people are happy to tell about employers they’ve applied to or even worked for in the past. This is an easy way to find the latest work at home news, and discover new opportunities. Here are a few, but remember to always take the opinion of others with a grain of salt: www.workplacelikehome.com/, www.wahm.com/, and www.affilorama.com/.
Tip #3 Flexibility is the key!
A surefire way to lengthen your work at home job search is to be inflexible. You will be much more successful if you submit applications for the types of opportunities that are most readily available. They aren’t high paying jobs either, as you can imagine. However, consider the trade-off. You’ll save on transportation, wardrobe, and food costs. You’ll also work in a comfortable environment, and you’ll likely choose your own work schedule.
